Create and Sing Carmen is a FREE programme for schools across the country. Based on Bizet’s world-famous opera Carmen, this Key Stage 2 singing project will inspire a generation of school children to engage with opera through story, character and song.
Lincolnshire Music Service is delighted to be hosting a training session on the programme for teachers with Louise Bakker and Rachel Wolseley.
The session will introduce teachers to the story of Carmen and the key characters through a variety of creative drama and singing exercises and will cover three numbers from the production which have been specifically adapted for a primary audience. There will be the opportunity to explore creatively how the project can be delivered in their schools over a 10-week period, culminating in the pupils' own performance of Carmen. The session will cover:
* Dramatic Singing
* Theatrical staging
* Primary music pedagogy
* Basic conducting technique
