A two hour session looking at:

  • Curriculum (compliance with School Development Plan/ Local/National Music Education Plan)
  • Facilities and equipment (including use of technology)
  • Staffing and experience levels (including instrumental/extra-curricular)
  • Student engagement and outcomes including wider music service involvement  (inclusion and excellence - Pupil Premium/Special Educational Needs Disablities)
  • Student voice

The format can be completely flexible and tailored to each school however could include:

  • Pre-visit information requested – available one week before visit date
  • 30 minute meeting with the Head of Department /Music staff
  • 1 hour scrutinising evidence (including student voice)
  • 30 minutes feedback to Head of Department/Music Staff/Senior Leadership Team

Premium Membership
A three hour session looking at:

  • Curriculum (compliance with School Development Plan/ Local/National Music Education Plan)
  • Facilities and equipment (including use of technology)
  • Staffing and experience levels (including instrumental/extra-curricular)
  • Student engagement and outcomes including wider music service involvement  (inclusion and excellence - Pupil Premium/Special Educational Needs Disablities)
  • Student voice

ith an additional service selected from the menu below:

  • Work scrutiny KS4 results and targets
  • KS5 results and Level 3 Value Added targets
  • Leadership and vision (could include use of peer/360 review)
  • Engagement with local and national music making
  • Lesson observation (using the school’s own model or OFSTED pro-forma)

Your Secondary Music Consultants

Karen Jones 

Karen has worked as a music teacher in Lincolnshire schools for over 30 years. She trained at Bretton Hall College, and moved to Lincolnshire in 1985, teaching class music in Grantham and North Hykeham. She was Head of Music at North Kesteven Academy for 12 years where she planned and delivered the music curriculum from KS3 to 5 teaching  GCSE, A Level and BTEC Level 2 & 3 qualifications.  She went on to oversee the Vocational education across the whole school before being promoted to the Senior Leadership Team in 2013, where she had strategic oversight the Performing Arts, the Curriculum and Post 16 education.  Throughout her time in secondary schools Karen has promoted and supported the work of the Lincolnshire Music Service; working with a team of individual instrumental tutors in the school setting and performing with the Lincoln Music Centre ensembles on Violin and Viola. She now works as a consultant with secondary schools in Lincolnshire. 

Elizabeth Rozier

Liz was classically trained in flute, piano, voice and recorder with a Scholarship at South Nottinghamshire Music School. She enjoyed the opportunities of playing principal flute with the Nottinghamshire Youth Orchestra before studying for a BEd Honours degree in music education at Kingston University, Surrey.

Liz began teaching as a Music Coordinator in a large junior school in Surrey. Duties included the planning, delivery and oversight of a progressive Music curriculum and all school events. She expanded her experience delivering Music lessons to all ages in a number of primary schools in the Midlands before moving on through the key stages in secondary music to A’ level and BTEC here in Lincolnshire. She has been committed to delivering a practical curriculum and a range of performance opportunities for students. Liz also enjoys instrumental and vocal tuition and remains an active musician in local concert bands and ensembles.

Liz is currently a teacher and tutor as well as consulting with primary and secondary schools on behalf of LMS.
