Whole Class Instrumental Tuition aims to ensure that every child is given an opportunity to play a musical instrument for at least one term at primary school. According to research, learning in this type of environment gives children more confidence and higher self-esteem.
Introducing children to the joy of music is at the heart of what we do. Specialist instrumental tutors work alongside class teachers, introducing pupils to the magic of music-making in our First Access programmes. Our Continuation Programmes offer children and young people the chance to progress and provide a deeper understanding of the instrument, developing a lifelong love of music.
First Access can be taught through a variety of different instruments including: woodwind, strings, brass, world music (samba, djembe drumming, taiko), guitar, ocarina, ukulele and handbells. The programme ensures that every child can experience enjoyment and success from the very earliest stages of musical learning. First Access has revolutionised the way Music Education is accessed nationally with over two million pupils currently learning as part of a whole class every week!
Continuation programmes are available on the same range of instruments as First Access. This allows programmes to follow-on seamlessly over the course of an academic year or even beyond! Continuation builds upon the performance skills, creativity, aural awareness and social skills gained through the First Access programme.
