Examinations

Although Trinity College London will be offering face to face music exams in some areas of the UK for the autumn 2020 season (e.g. London), all venues in Lincolnshire will only be offering the new Digital Grades exam for candidates wishing to take a music exam this term.

The Covid19 situation will determine whether we resume face-to-face exams in spring 2021.

Trinity will be announcing further details of the new Digital Grades and Diplomas exam in the next few days, but this is what we know so far:

The new digital qualification requires candidates to submit a continuous, unedited performance video.

Here is a summary of what candidates in each subject need to prepare….

Classical and Jazz

  • Three pieces (four for higher grades singing) from the repertoire lists in the Classical and Jazz syllabus.
  • The same technical work options as in a face-to-face exam.

Rock & Pop

  • A song selected from the Rock & Pop book for the grade.
  • A second song that can be selected from the Rock & Pop book for the grade or the candidate's own composition.
  • A technical focus song from the Rock & Pop book for the grade.

Music Performance Diploma

  • A recital according to the parameters defined in the syllabus.
  • Written programme.

The Digital Grades exam will be following the existing syllabus for each instrument and will be available in all grades, including diplomas.
