LMS makes available a number of bursaries and subsidies to assist with the costs of LMS provision to support children and young people in financial need. These may be granted to children and young people of all ages and abilities.

Instalments 

To help with the cost of LMS provision, payment can be made through monthly instalments. This flexible payment plan spreads the costs and is available to all students.

Standard Subsidy 

LMS makes available a number of bursaries and subsidies to assist with the costs of LMS provision to support children and young people in financial need. These may be granted to children and young people of all ages and abilities.  

Subsidies are available, for the following students, on the Fees in relation to provision delivered by  LMS: 

Students who are eligible for means-tested free school meals = 50% Fees Subsidy and 100% Instrument Hire Subsidy (Free School Meals eligible student will receive a maximum of 50% off a 15 or 20 minute lesson. This discount also applies on 30min lessons up to a maximum value of £6.30 per lesson.  A Looked after Child, including previously a Looked After Child, is eligible to receive a 50% reduction on Fees for Lessons, 100% on Instrument hire and 50% on Ensemble membership)

Students who are a Looked after Child = 50% fees subsidy and 100% Instrument Hire Subsidy   

Evidence will be provided by the parent/carer and verified by Lincolnshire County Council.  

If circumstances change and the student becomes eligible, or ceases to be eligible for a subsidy, LMS should be notified straight away. Upon receipt of the evidence, the Fees shall be adjusted accordingly for the next Academic Term, subject to sufficient notice.  

If the student ceases to become eligible for full or part discount and LMS is not informed, any subsidies claimed may be charged.

Additional Cost of Living Bursaries 

LMS has received some short-term funding to support families with the ongoing recovery from the pandemic including the rising costs of living. 

Bursaries are available to assist with the costs of LMS provision to support children and young people in financial need.

This is a time-bound and limited pot of funding and will be allocated on a case-by-case basis. Requests cannot be administered retrospectively.

  • Any student receiving tuition directly via a LMS tutor is eligible.
  • Available to students who currently do not qualify for the Standard Subsidies available through LMS. It is not means tested.
  • Usually set at 50% Fees Subsidy in line with the Standard Subsidies available.
  • Bursary agreement for one-term only (Autumn, Spring and Summer). Re-application needed for additional terms.
  • The following additional factors, verified by LMS annual reports, may be used, if applicable, as supporting evidence by LMS (If applicable):
  1. Commitment and attitude to learning
  2. Progress
  3. Attendance
  • LMS may contact your child’s school for further evidence if felt applicable
  • Bursaries agreed and approved by the LMS Management Team.
  • Appeals can be made in writing to musicservice@lincolnshire.gov.uk

Applications received after the 6th August will be processed at the beginning of September.

Please note, you will be required to confirm your total household income and we may ask for proof of evidence to verify the response.

As this is a limited pot of funding, please only apply if you are in genuine hardship which will result in the withdrawal of music tuition.
